Useful tips

Skis should reach somewhere between your chin and eye level. Shorter skis are easier to control; longer skis are more stable at speed.

For beginners: choose shorter skis – they are more forgiving and easier to turn.

• All-mountain: versatile, for any terrain
• Carving: groomed pistes, precise turns
• Powder: deep snow, wider and longer
• Racing: the longest, for high speeds
